The Prinz von Hessen winery is located in Johannisberg in the Rheingau, which Philipp Landgrave von Hessen acquired in 1957 and added to the portfolio of the Hessian House Foundation. Its trademark is the family coat of arms: the red and white striped lion of Heinrich I. The winery, run by director Bärbel Weinert, is a member of the Association of Prädikat Winegrowers (VdP) and is one of the most important Riesling producers in Germany. It cultivates around 35 hectares, more than 90 percent of which are planted with Riesling, in the famous Johannisberger Klaus, Winkeler Hasensprung, Winkeler Jesuitengarten and Winkeler Dachsberg vineyards. Numerous awards reflect the outstanding quality level of the wines, for example at the International Wine Challenge (IWC) or the Decanter Award. With the 2023 vintage, the winery is fully certified organic in accordance with the EU directive. More information at www.prinz-von-hessen.de.
