Pfarrkirche St. Martin
Am Markt, 65375 Oestrich-Winkel
High walls enclose the church square. Here, there may have been a cemetery from Frankish times with the oldest church in the city. The present house of worship was built in 1508. The tower can be attributed to a Romanesque church from the first half of the 12th century. During the Thirty Years' War, it was burned down by the Swedes. Restoration took place in 1893/94. An impressive symphony of Gothic arches. Slender columns support rich star vaults. The three altars showcase notable artworks from various epochs. Worth seeing on the north wall is the holy grave (1422) and the image of misery, the oldest artwork from St. Martin dating back to the 12th century.
