Hexenturm
Wispergrund 2, 65391 Lorch
From the Middle Ages until the 18th century, criminals, but also witches, were imprisoned in the Witch Tower.
Next to the stump at the mouth of the Wisper, the only preserved town tower of the former city wall between the Weiseler Gate and the Schauer Gate. The 'Schauerweg' today recalls this gate (Schauer = barn). The name 'Hexenturm' dates back to the year 1520, when a Presberger, according to tradition, had his mother-in-law locked up as a witch in order to gain her property.
